Found across Australia, New Zealand and Peru, blue tongues skinks are omnivores. In the wild they would eat insects such as crickets, some small mammals and will also eat small amounts of plant matter. In captivity we feed them on a diet of insects - crickets, meat - baby mice (pinkies) and on vegetables including kale, watercress and a mix of carrot, squash, cucumber, tomatoes, peas and sweet corn. In addition they also eat a small amount of high quality dog food!

- Live bearing, they give birth to around 5-15 live young.
- Adults reach 45 centimetres.
- Habitat being deserts and scrub land.
- Diurnal reptile.
Crazy Fact
Blue tongued skinks are different from most reptiles because they don’t lay eggs. They actually give birth to live young. Only a few reptiles do this which include skinks and boas, from the snake family.
