Found across North America, corn snakes are carnivores and hunt live mice or small rats that are living in the corn fields. In captivity we feed them dead adult mice
- Live up to 15 years.
- Egg layers, they lay 8-10 a year.
- Adults can grow to 5 feet.
- Habitat being dry forests (deciduous forest) and farmer’s fields.
- Nocturnal reptile.
Crazy Fact
Corn snakes can dislocate their jaw to open their mouths 5 times the size of their head. When they have caught a mouse they will kill it by constricting (squeezing) it to death. Once the prey is suffocated, the snake will dislocate their jaw and swallow the mouse whole.
