A large west African lizard, Bosc monitors are carnivores and would eat insects such as crickets and meat including rats and small birds. In captivity we feed them on a diet of insects such as crickets and mealworms and also meat such as dead mice and rats.
- Live up to 12 years.
- Egg layers, they lay between 8 - 30 eggs a year.
- Adults can reach 5 foot when fully grown.
- Habitat being savannah and grassland.
- Nocturnal Reptile.
Crazy Fact
Bosc Monitors can hold an egg in their mouth without breaking it. Their tail can act like a whip and can be very dangerous without care.
