Found in Central and southern Africa, land snails are herbivores and eat a mixture of plants, vegetables and fruit. They are considered a pest in Africa because they eat a lot of the farmer’s crops. In captivity we feed apple, cucumber and greens including cabbage or kale.

- Egg layers and they lay a lot.
- The adults shell can grow to sizes of nearly 25 centimetres.
- Habitat being rainforest, savannah, scrub land and wetland.

Crazy Fact
Giant African land snails are hermaphrodites meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs. If you were to keep two snails together, you would end up with eggs and hundreds of them too.
