Indian Scops Owl
Otus bakkomoena

Found across India, the Scops Owl is a carnivore. In the wild they eat mostly invertebrates from worms to beetles and moths but will also eat small mice/lizards and birds. In captivity we feed them mice and chicks chopped up into little bite size pieces and they also get mealworms and crickets.

Crazy Fact

Owls have very large eyes for the size of their head. This is for two reasons... one they are nocturnal and so need very large eyes to see in the dark, and two they can see very far distances, they can see prey from up to 30ft from the ground.
